Our History with Children's Miracle Network

Making a Difference

We are proud to support Children's Miracle Network (CMN) in their mission to save and improve the lives of children by funding critical treatments, pediatric medical equipment, and essential healthcare services. This May, partner with us to raise funds for CMN – with donations directly benefiting the hospital nearest to our Gabby and Summer Classics retail locations. Thanks to this annual effort, we help support more than 10 Children’s Miracle Network hospitals across the U.S. and Canada, ensuring children receive the care they need, when they need it most.

Meet Our 2026 Champion

Barbie, Age 11
Nicklaus Children's Hospital

Just before her second birthday, Barbie developed a high fever and started having trouble walking. She was rushed to the hospital, where tests revealed devastating news: acute lymphoblastic leukemia, an aggressive cancer of the blood and bone marrow. She began chemotherapy immediately, but infections soon complicated her treatment. When bacteria entered her port twice, doctors were forced to continue chemo through her limbs. For two years, Barbie endured grueling treatments and months in isolation to protect her fragile immune system, before being declared in remission.

Three years later, at a routine checkup, doctors discovered her cancer had returned, and her local hospital lacked the advanced care she needed to survive. In the middle of the pandemic, her family made the choice to relocate to Miami and seek care at Nicklaus Children’s, a Children’s Miracle Network hospital. There, Barbie began intensive chemotherapy just five days after arriving.

At Nicklaus Children’s Helen & Jacob Shaham Cancer & Blood Disorders Institute, Barbie found joy through the hospital’s Child Life, music, and pet therapy programs. Bedside Buddy volunteers played games; therapy dogs stopped in for cuddles, and social workers supported the family through each stage of her medical journey.

After nearly three years of intense treatment, Barbie celebrated her biggest milestone, ringing the bell to mark the end of chemotherapy. Today, she remains in remission and returns to Nicklaus Children’s every few months for checkups.

Barbie is a happy, outgoing 11-year-old who loves to dance and spend time with her sister. Her journey reflects the power of hope, family, and expert pediatric care. “She’s our miracle,” says her mom. “Nicklaus Children’s gave us back her smile, and her future.”
